Gastroscopy - Please avoid eating food or any drinks from at least 6 hours before your scheduled procedure time. You may, however, have just water up to drink ONLY water up to 2 hours before your procedure.

 

The test is usually done without sedation but however if you are requesting sedation, you will have to organize an escort to accompany you home otherwise we will not be able to give you any sedation.

 

Flexible sigmoidoscopy - Prior to your procedure, you will either be sent an enema with instructions to self-administer this or be advised to attend earlier for the enema to be administered in the hospital.
