Welcome

Welcome to the home page of The London ColoRectal Clinic (previously known as The ColoRectal Surgeon Established 2008) is a London based colorectal and gastroenterological specialist private practice clinic which offers the latest diagnostic and therapeutic services, including colorectal surgery, to patients who suffer from disorders of the colon (bowel), rectum and anus.

The practice offers state-of-the-art modern technology including advanced colorectal, pelvic floor and minimal invasive surgical expertise obtained from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA and the Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, Az, USA.

The practice has a growing group of patients based around London and internationally. Privately insured and self-paying patients are all welcomed at The London ColoRectal Clinic.

The London ColoRectal Clinic offers weekly scheduled outpatient appointments at London Bridge Hospital, Harley Street Clinic and King’s College Hospital. For patient convenience evening and ad-hoc appointments are available and outpatients appointments may now be booked with our very convenient online scheduler. We can accommodate most patients’ requests for appointments promptly.

The private practice is led by Mr Joseph W Nunoo-Mensah who is currently a consultant colorectal and laparoscopic surgeon at King's College Hospital, London.

The London ColoRectal Clinic also provides medical expert witnesses and produces medico legal reports. Timely, clear, independent medical reports prepared by Mr Joseph W Nunoo-Mensah. We fully understands the requirements of instructing solicitors, in particular the restricted timescales for civil litigation. As we currently receives instructions for medico-legal reports, we will provide a no obligation quotation for the cost of the report and the time scale for the report.

The clinic also actively participates in organising surgical skills courses and providing educational materials for medical doctors and other related professionals. Courses include the basic surgical skills course and a novel open gastrointestinal stapling course at King's College Hospital. The London ColoRectal Clinic (previously known as The ColoRectal Surgeon) has been instrumental in working with the International Society of University Colon & Rectal Surgeons and King's College London to run an annual winter 'Debates & Dilemmas Colorectal Surgery' conference. The 7th DDCRS meeting was scheduled from the 14-18th December 2019 at Bush House, King's College London.

COVID-19 & Consultations

To reassure you London Bridge Hospital  (HCA Group) has been providing regular updates from Dr. Cliff Bucknall, Chief Medical Officer for HCA on a regular basis to staff and consultants.

The London Bridge Hospital has taken significant steps to reduce the risk of introducing COVID-!9 virus into the hospital or the outpatient environment.

In summary, the hospital has instigated:

  • All patients/relatives are screened at reception before entering the hospital

  • All patients booked for admission are screened by telephone and surgery delayed by 14 days if they have been to a tier 1&2 country (regardless of contact) or if they have been in contact with someone in the UK

  • All patients booking for OP appts with respiratory symptoms are having telephone appts first with the consultant (all general physicians and respiratory docs have been called to ensure they are aware).

  • No NHS transfer or international patient admission is occurring without a COVID negative test within the last 48 hours.

  • The Urgent Care Centre service at London Bridge Hospital has been temporarily suspended to try to minimize the risk of a COVID-19 patient being admitted or transferring the virus to both staff and patients.

However, in line with reducing traveling and contact unless necessary, we are aware that some patients may still need a consultation to reassure or to commence urgent investigations.

At The London Colorectal Clinic, we are now able to perform a telephone or web conference consultation on Monday am 09:00 - 12:00 GMT or Wednesday from 18:00-20:00 GMT. Other consultation times may be available on a discussion.

The 15-30min telephone or web consultations are £175 for self-paying patients. If you need a follow-up outpatient consultation for the physical examination is required then we will take into consideration the fee already paid. For example, a follow-up consultation will incur an additional consultation fee of £25 + £15 room hire fees. Please note that depending on what equipment is used for your examination there may be additional fees from the hospital.

If you have private health insurance we encourage you to discuss with them if they will cover the cost of your telephone or web conference consultation. Historically insurance companies have never been too keen on reimbursing practitioners for telephone or virtual consultation with web conferencing facilities but with the current situation of the need to reduce physical contacts this situation is set to change.
